Here's an example of a half-day tour itinerary that meets most of our visitors' expectations, offering a broad exploration in a limited time span, encompassing pre- and post-European history, natural and historical sites, botany, coastal and mountain landscapes, and current local lifestyles.
A first stop at the Arahurahu marae (‘temple’) provides insight into the culture and lifestyle of ancient Polynesians. A visit to the Vaipahi Water Garden will then introduce you to numerous tropical plants, a first waterfall, and if you're lucky, you might even spot our famous sacred eels. Moving from the west coast to the east coast, you can reach a magnificent waterfall in the heart of the Faarumai Valley after a five-minute walk. And finally, at Point Vénus you will admire the lighthouse, the historical monuments recalling the arrival of the first European boats and will have the opportunity to walk on an immense black sand beach facing the magnificent bay of Matavai, a very popular place for Tahitians for a large number of leisure activities.
Two options are available : classic tour and guided tour.
Classic tour
During the tour, your driver will share his knowledge on Tahiti and French Polynesia, while letting you discover your selection of points of interest.
Guided tour
In addition to the services of your professional driver, you will find the presence and expertise of a tour guide who will provide you with a great deal of historical and cultural details in order to deepen your visit experience. Whether it’s an 4 hours half day or full day of 8 hours excursion, the full tour of the island can be performed, the only restraint being the number of stops!
